Sigh and Hand
The title of this Substack is a play on words and an indirect nod and wink to Indiana, Pennsylvania's famous "Artist's Hand gallery and espresso bar.
I could not plagiarize the beautiful name of the wonderful gallery in Indiana, PA. The Artists Hand generously supports local artists and art making. So, I named this Substack in a derivative idea of a location which holds a special place in my heart: Indiana, Pennsylvania. Of course, sigh is a play on words - artist’s sigh vs artist’s eye. The artists hand implies hard work, exhaustion, determination, effort, and so on. The artists eye implies perfection and superior knowledge. But the artist’s sigh can imply pure joy, thankfulness, satisfaction, admiration, frustration, sadness…anything really but it is ever present in the process - it is the simplest expression that contains no words but can mean so many different things. A sigh only comes because we are given breath of life via God.
And here, I will post writings solely dedicated to artmaking.
